Our Story

our-beginning

Greendot is an asian-fusion meat free fast casual concept. It was founded in 2011 with the intention of making healthy meat free meals convenient, accessible and affordable to the mass. We hold a common belief that everyone can make a positive difference to the world by simply consciously choosing what they eat. Just by going meat free once or twice a week, we can take a step towards making a positive impact on ourselves, our community and the environment. Greendot hopes to modernize and revolutionize the vegetarian industry by providing a green, healthier and convenient alternative for our customers as compared to convention fast food. We repackaged traditional vegetarian cuisine into a green fast casual concept, hoping to popularize the vegetarian cuisine amongst youths and ladies, and most importantly, encourage more non-vegetarians to go meat-free.

We are here to make it easy for people to take that first step to go meat-free!

At GreenDot, green starts with fresh, quality ingredients.

It means constantly working with a team of nutritionists to develop menu options that provide a choice of great tasting food while meeting your nutritional needs. It means that from rinsing our rice until the water turns clear, to cooking our dishes fresh at each outlet, we take the care to prepare our food the way our Moms do.

Because we believe it is the love put into the cooking that makes Mom’s cooking taste best. All this is made complete with a casual dining experience made possible by passionate employees who make it their business to delight each and every guest.

We want to help people take care of and love themselves.

Deliver Care through food

At GreenDot, we believe in caring for our food, our staff, and our customers. From sourcing, preparation, to serving, we at GreenDot deliver care for our customers by putting our heart and soul into creating the best food and experience for people.

I remember feeling immensely inspired and encouraged one afternoon when I saw how one of my staff exemplified this value. An elderly lady had just walked into our outlet to order a bento set. Seeing that she was about 80 years old and had difficulty walking, the staff not only offered to serve her food to her but also took the initiative to go the extra mile. She took a pair of scissors, sat down beside the lady and cut her food into small pieces so that she could chew more easily.

Seeing our values translate into such stories really reminds us that we don’t just sell food – we deliver care through food.

Bring Love into homes

To us, it is hard to talk about love without talking about family. That is why we have a strong, loving, family culture at GreenDot. And that is why we want to bring love and laughter into homes.

During a casual conversation with one of my staff, I found out that she woke up at 5 am (extra early) that day as it was a Sunday, and Sunday meant cooking for her kids before she left for work. “Because it’s a way of showing my love for them, showing that I care for them.”

I had a moment of epiphany; a simple action of whipping up a home cooked meal could mean so much to a family.  Yet, this has been made difficult for the modern career woman. This was how we came up with our ready-to-cook meals as a solution – to make it easier for the modern woman (or anyone) to whip up a wholesome meal for her (or his) loved ones.

Hope – spread hope through our Greendot movement
One of our main motivations for setting up GreenDot is to inspire others to create positive impact on ourselves, our community and the environment in a concerted effort.

Once, I was at the GreenDot campus stall when I overheard a lower secondary school boy asking his friend “Why do you want to eat at GreenDot. It’s vegetarian!?” His friend’s reply was “Because we can go green!”. Some say that our younger generation is self-centred, but this boy proved otherwise. We believe that we are all kind by nature, and want to make this world a better place.

Hence, we want to be an avenue where people can eat with a greater purpose and to take that first step. Because every action, no matter how small, can make a difference. And when we work together in a collective effort, each individual step adds up to a big leap towards our goals.

Enso, meaning “circle”, symbolizes enlightenment, strength and elegance. The GreenDot Enso was drawn intentionally as an incomplete circle, allowing room for continuous improvement and as an invitation for others to join in our movement of spreading care, love and hope.
