I met a friend recently to catch up over a meal and we were sharing ideas on how we can keep our energy level high/recharge ourselves. Due to our work commitments and the roles and responsibilities that we need to handle, we often find ourselves feeling drained and low in energy. Happiness is an inside job and you can control it. Here’s a few ways in which you can boost your energy level and happiness.
1) Take care of yourself by exercising
During a workout, it is scientifically proven that our body will release a kind of hormones called endorphins. Productivity will soar and your moods will elevate as your endorphins get released. This drives up your energy level and makes you feel more inspired.
2) Talk to people with high energy
This is like a cheat code to instantly increase your energy.. You try to recharge your energy level by absorbing the energy level of those around you. When you talk to people who are positive, they encourage you, motivate you, inspire you, and in the process, their high energy gets transferred to you.
3) Learn new things/upgrade your skills
We are inspired by new challenges. Growth is a very powerful energy fuel. Learning new things makes us feel motivated and that will translate to positive energy. When we are able to expand our comfort zone and do something that we have never done before, we feel fulfilled and this fulfillment is fuels our energy and increase our level of happiness.
4) Spend time with the right people
These are the people you enjoy, who love and appreciate you, and who encourage you to improve in healthy and exciting ways. These people make you feel more loved, and you can be yourself around them because they embrace and embody who you want to be, unconditionally.
5) Be thankful for the things you already have
The problem with many of us is that we think that we’ll be happy only when we achieve or reach a certain level in life. A level where it is determined by the people around and set by the society that we live in. As a result, sometimes we get so caught up with achieve these goals that we forget to appreciate the little things we have now. So a simple take to being happy is to be thankful, be thankful for what you already have now and for the people around you.
6) Appreciate the beauty of small moments
How many big moments can we actually have in our life? Instead of waiting for the big things to happen, why not find happiness in the small things that can easily happen every day. Little things such having breakfast with our loved ones in the early morning, being early for work, compliments from our colleagues, holding hands with your partner while taking a stroll in the part. Notice these small pleasures on a daily basis make a big difference in the quality of your life.
7) Set goals for yourself and work towards them every single day.
Having goals in life makes us alive, and achieving these goals make us happy. Whatever it is you dream about, start taking small, logical steps every day to make it happen. Constantly devote yourself to get closer to your goal. When we live with a purpose, we instantly uplift our level of happiness
8) Love others/give your love to others
This is something that I realized recently. You feel the happiest not when you receive but when you are able to give. By caring for others, helping them, cheering them up, all these little actions will give you satisfaction and happiness. A simple way to do this would be to carry out a random act of kindness daily for someone without expecting anything in return.
